EXHORTATION:

The Secretary and some member Pastors of the association shares with those members present what they also learnt at the just ended Pastors Conference. He started by saying that a well known medical Professor addressing the Pastors Conference talk about the “Pastor and His health” said the following, “if we don’t give the body a rest it needed, medications will gives that rest”.

  • He went further to explain that ministers of the gospel do not sleep well, they don’t rest well, they don’t eat well and also they don’t take good care of their health and hence get diseases like diabetes, hypertension and the rest and when these diseases sets in, we seek medical attention and they will be put on medications; its these medications that will compel them to rest since they become weak to performing everyday tasks like they used to.
  • Again he said men of God stays away from food for far too long though they won’t be fasting, they get diseases like ulcer and when they get ulcer, he or she will rely solely on medications.
  • Once again he said, good sleep is very essential for the body; research says when one sleeps for 5 hrs and above, naturally the body relaxes some hormones into the blood stream to repair some worn out tissues in the body.
  • He also said that late night eating is very dangerous so we should eat early for the body to fully digest the food.
  • Moreover, he also talked about stress where he defined stress as a pressure and tension or everything related to a problem. He said stress is good as it helps us to perform some reflex actions; for instance when you are driving and a car crosses you, its stress that helps you apply the brakes immediately.
  •  He said that but when the stress on the body is excessive it leads to health diseases like hypertension, heart diseases, mental illness, and miscarriage in women and so on.
  • He concluded by saying that we have to take very good care of ourselves, we should get enough rest for the body and shouldn’t stress it that much in the name of the ministry because if we don’t give the body the rest it needs, medications will give the body that rest in the future.
